Morgannwg LDC Study Day and BGM 2026
The Morgannwg Local Dental Committee Study Day will take place on Friday, 9 October 2026 at:

Swansea

The day will include the Biennial General Meeting of GDP Providers and Performers included on the Swansea Bay University Health Board Dental Lists.
The BGM agenda and supporting papers will be circulated by email approximately seven days before the meeting. They will also be available on the Morgannwg LDC website from the date of circulation.
Attendance at the Study Day will provide 5 CPD hours.
What to Expect from the Study Day
The Study Day will offer a full day of verifiable CPD through a varied programme designed to be practical, informative and relevant to GDPs at all stages of their careers. The programme will include presentations from experienced speakers, practical updates and opportunities to reflect on current approaches to patient care.
Alongside the presentations, there will be opportunities to meet colleagues, exchange views and speak with supporting dental suppliers during registration and the refreshment and lunch breaks.
Topics Covered
- Oral Medicine, with particular emphasis on cancer recognition and referral;
- Oral Surgery and the identification and management of potential complications;
- Update on current developments in Periodontology;
- Remineralisation of early caries lesions;
- The use of Digital Technology in Clinical Practice; and
- Becoming a Foundation Dentist Educational Supervisor.
Learning Objectives
By the end of the Study Day, participants should be able to:
- recognise clinical features that may indicate oral cancer or other significant oral disease and understand the appropriate referral pathway;
- identify common oral surgery problems and consider appropriate initial management, referral and risk reduction;
- review current principles in periodontal assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning and ongoing care;
- consider how digital technology and other developments can be used safely and effectively in clinical practice;
- describe the latest developments in Dental Foundation Training (DFT) in Wales.
- recognise key changes affecting Dental Foundation Dentists, Educational Supervisors, and training practices.
- identify opportunities to support and or become involved in Dental Foundation Training within their own practice or organisation.
- reflect on how the day’s learning may be applied within their own practice; and
- share experience and discuss clinical and professional issues with colleagues and speakers.
Development Outcomes
The programme is expected to contribute to GDC Development Outcomes A, B, C and D.
